Our first sea day was a relaxing one. I woke (before Dale for a change) and went to the gym. I am in the middle of a workout program and was determined to stay on track. I do try to workout on our trips, but some times best intentions are just that. This time, I knew I needed to workout each day to try and offset some of the calories that I was consuming. Dale likes to get up and go get breakfast while I’m at the gym and then he will return to the buffet for his ‘second’ breakfast while I eat. He doesn’t really eat a second breakfast but he will go and keep me company and he will have a pastry and coffee. While at breakfast I met up with my friend Joe who designed our Hawaii cruise shirts. He had made me an Evie shirt. For anyone who does not know who Evie is, I’ll share this adorable Disney Cruise Line ad. Evie has become the infamous, hard to find, souvenir. Thanks to Joe, I have a shirt with Evie on it.
We had a couples massage scheduled for this day. When we were on the Wonder in the fall, we got to enjoy the Couples Villa which is an amazing experience, but for half the price, we could enjoy a wonderful massage without the extra ‘bells and whistle’. Some people have complained about the spa on the ship as they often try to ‘upsell’ you on services or products. I was told a while back to write ‘no upsales’ on the intake form and it seems to work. They may still try but they don’t seem to be as bad. We had a glorious massage and were completely relaxed afterwards. We did not purchase the Rainforest Pass this trip (as we found we did not use it nearly enough last cruise), and we really didn’t miss it.
After our massage it was a quick lunch in Cabanas and then some relaxing time on the pool deck with friends. This became our daily thing, relaxing, typically in the shade, enjoying some fun beverages and conversation with friends.
Today, was formal night on the ship, which typically also entails with a Captains reception in the atrium where they have complimentary drinks (adults and kids mocktails). I love formal night, as we don’t typically attend events that we need to dress up for. (come on, I work in pajamas, i.e. scrubs, and Dale wears Harley shirts 90% of the time). So, I really do enjoy the chance to dress up (which is why we typically dress for dinner most nights on the cruise).
We enjoyed dinner at Rapunzel’s Royal Table which is an immersive Tangled theme dining experience. Since we would be eating at this restaurant several times, we were treated each night to something a little different. After a delicious dinner, we went to Key’s which is the piano bar and enjoyed the music, friends and drinks. Dale loves a good old fashion and has been making ‘smoked’ drinks at home, so he jumped at the chance to have one on board. Allen, our server at Key’s presenting his drink!
Here we go again!!! So we booked this cruise last year as we absolutely loved this itinerary when we did it in 2022. Who wouldn't love to spend 14 nights on a Disney cruise ship!!!?? The price per night is so much more affordable on these longer cruises that it just 'makes sense' to do them! (you see that 'Disney' logic there, lol)! I am one who doesn't like to 'wait' to see if airfare will come down since it so rarely does, so we booked our flights last August. Of course come November, American did away with our 'non-stop' flight from Philly to Houston, so we were rebooked on a connecting flight for that same day, getting us into Houston the afternoon before the cruise. Well, March of 2026 hit and TSA had a shut down, airports were so crowded for people waiting to get through security that many were missing their flights. When this went on for a bit, we realized we needed to do something, fly in a day earlier. So, first things first, before I ch...
We have taken Disney transportation to the ship in the past, typically when we are in areas we’ve not been to before (i.e. London, New Orleans and now Galveston). Disney is typically a well oiled machine and things run so smoothly (TYPICALLY, being the key word)! There were two transportation options available for cruising out of Galveston, one being from the Marriott hotel we were staying at, the other from the airport right nearby. Well, Disney fell short on this one. There were I believe over 300, maybe over 400 people at the hotel alone. They had ONE person checking in people that were concierge or pearl castaway cay members (those that have cruised 25 times already with DCL) and ONE person checking in everyone else. When the one gal was done, she did start to help the other but this was chaos. People waiting in line for more than an hour to just ‘check in’ for the bus, not actually get on the bus. After checking in, you are giving a boarding character, not a bus number. Some knew ...
